MSC Cruises will put an Eataly on its second ship at sea, the MSC World Asia, which delivers November 25, 2026 and sails its maiden voyage December 4 from the Mediterranean. The Italian food brand joins more than 40 bars, lounges, cafés and restaurants on the vessel.
It's a repeat of a bet MSC placed last year, when Eataly debuted on the MSC World America. One ship was a test; two suggests the concept earned its berth. MSC didn't release covers, spend-per-guest or revenue figures for the first outing — so "successful debut" remains the company's word, not a measured result.
What does the deal change for sellers?
For agents, the pitch is straightforward: a recognizable shoreside brand gives them a fresh differentiator on Mediterranean seven-night itineraries calling at Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples and Valletta. Dining has become a lever for upsell, and brand-name restaurants tend to anchor specialty-dining packages.
MSC framed the partnership in hospitality terms rather than commercial ones. CEO Gianni Onorato said: "Exceptional food and hospitality are at the heart of the experience we create for our guests. Partnering with Eataly allows us to bring a renowned culinary brand to sea."
He added: "Following the successful debut of Eataly onboard MSC World America, we look forward to bringing our guests in the Mediterranean a unique dining experience with an artfully created menu reflecting the global nature of MSC Cruises."
How the restaurant is built to drive spend
The design leans on theater and personalization — two mechanics that reliably lift per-cover revenue. Show cooking will be central, with a dedicated table chef working in front of guests. Diners can eat on a terrace with ocean views.
There's also a cellar hook: guests get a personalized visit to the wine cellar at The Terrace Bar and pick their own bottle. Letting customers choose their own wine, with staff alongside, is a classic attachment strategy. MSC describes the menu as regional specialties and classic Italian dishes in a contemporary setting.
The ship has completed its final sea trials, so the timeline is firm on the yard side at least. In plain terms: MSC is exporting a proven American-market dining brand to its Mediterranean core, and sellers get a name their clients already know to book against.
